I configure my Pogoplug V4 devices so the new boot loader will load the factory OS by kicking off the OLD boot loader when there's no bootable SD card or USB drive.
This got me to thinking, I wonder if it's possible to do the OPPOSITE? I have a V4 that has a bad block #3, so I can't write the new boot loader (tried this on one with a bad block #2 and it bricked it). So, since I can't overwrite the current boot loader, can I write the NEW boot loader at the location where the factory OS lives, so the old boot loader will kick off the new boot loader, which can then look for an OS on the SD or USB as normal.
Do you think this would work? If so, what location do I want to write the new boot loader to? This will obviously destroy the factory OS, which I'm OK with, but that means I probably only get one shot at writing it to the correct place.
Thoughts?
